What is Depression?
While everyone experiences sadness, depression is deeper and more persistent, lasting weeks or even months. Depression is more than feeling sad or "the blues". It often includes a sense of helplessness or hopelessness or lack of energy and motivation. It's not a sign of weakness and it IS treatable!

What is Trauma?
Any situation that leaves you feeling feeling emotionally or physically overwhelmed and alone can be traumatic -- trauma doesn't have to involve actual physical harm. Many people experience a threat to their life or their safety. Emotional or psychological trauma results from extraordinarily stressful events that shatter your sense of security, making you feel vulnerable and helpless.  

For some people trauma is caused by a single, one-time event like a terrible accident, natural disaster or violent attack. But few recognize that trauma can also be layered by ongoing stress and struggle, like severe health issues (cancer) or living in a cruel or abusive environment (neighborhood or family). Others become traumatized from sports injuries, humiliating or disappointing experiences or the sudden death of someone close. 

Although only a small percentage of people will have "Post Traumatic Stress Disorder", the effects of trauma can still impact a person's daily life.

How Can Integrative Counseling and Wellness Help?
What most people don’t realize is that problems are often a reflection of disrupted patterns within the mind-body system. 
By addressing conflicts in thoughts and emotions while harnessing the energy systems of the body, energy psychology allows for faster processing of a variety of emotional and psychological concerns. 

Clients learn about how emotions and traumatic experiences affect the body and mind. You'll also practice mind-body skills to self-regulate between sessions, reducing symptoms of stress, anxiety, anger, trauma, guilt, shame and depression. 

The focus is on regaining awareness, rebalancing your mind-body and energy systems and reframing your thoughts to bring about rapid positive change.

When it comes to healing after a traumatic incident, some people have a long and difficult road ahead of them. I aim to make the recovery process faster and easier. Anxiety and Stress Are VERY Treatable

You might be feeling like you’ve tried everything, but with the right set of skills you CAN manage your anxiety significantly better! It's not unusual for my clients try a new technique then come to the next session and tell me it didn’t work. But, if they stick with it, most of them find the tools get more and more powerful the more they practice. They find that they can use these new tools to stay grounded, even in the most stressful situations.

I integrate energy psychology and other healing approaches into the counseling process and specialize in helping people reach their full potential. I'm passionate about assisting people with clearing the emotional and psychological blocks toward manifesting happiness and their purpose in life.

Grief and Loss Can Be Overcome

Loss is a part of our lives and can mean different things to different people. Grieving is an integral part of the process of healing from loss. You might feel overwhelmed by the feelings related to your experience. This can, in some instances, lead to profound sadness, guilt, fear or intense anxiety. Everyone reacts differently. Counseling can help you develop new strategies -- a "new normal" -- for coping with your feelings or discovering the resilience that resides deep inside you. You may even find that once you find meaning in the experience there can be an opening for purpose and direction in your life.

Are you trying to understand what your mission and purpose in life are? 

I take a holistic approach to career counseling that includes viewing how work and home life might be related.  I use a variety of resources as I work with individuals. There are many career- and job-oriented resources available and I encourage you to research possibilities as a part of our work. The career transition process is essentially 4 phases: 
  1. SELF-ASSESSMENT – assessing your values, skills, and life-style preferences
  2. EXPLORATION – generating and finding out about your options
  3. DECISION-MAKING – sorting through information to decide on a good match
  4. JOB SEARCH SKILLS – resume writing, using the most effective job search strategies, & interviewing
You may work through one or more phases quickly; others may take more time.  Ultimately, it will be up to you to take the steps toward achieving any goals we set between sessions, but you can count on my support in this process!
